Here is some very valuable information regarding the 4life veterinary products and why many veterinarians in the US and around the world continue to use the human formulas in their practices.

In 1998, 4Life only had a few human formulas on the market.  Veterinarians used these human formulas in their practices with great success.  For example, in his testimonial, Dr. Steven Slagle DVM explains how he used 6 capsules a day of Transfer Factor PLUS Advanced to treat a horse with EPM, and 1 capsule a day to treat a cat with leukemia.

He writes "A cat with leukemia, an oral tumor, and posterior paralysis due to a spinal tumor, was very ill and emaciated. One month after enhanced transfer factors (1 cap daily), there was some regression of the oral tumor, restored appetite with some weight gain, and increased sociability. Five months later, she continues to improve, regaining normal weight, 80% regression of her oral tumor, and regaining use of hind legs and tail.

Victor, a 10-year-old gelding with EPM, was treated with conventional drug therapy for 5 weeks and yet continued to deteriorate. At week 6, I started him on enhanced transfer factors (6 caps/day). Within one week, he showed noticeable improvement, and within 30 days, he was able to show. Since his full recovery 4 months ago, Victor has continued to show at his original performance level."

A few years ago, the 4Life company decided to produce animal products which they could legally promote for the veterinary industry. Basically, they created animal supplements for cats, dogs, and livestock to which they added the Transfer Factor formulas. However, as far as I know, many veterinarians continue to use the human products in their practices, (sometimes in conjunction with animal formulas) probably because it has produced excellent results in the past.

1. Very sick animals do not have an appetite. The animal products are bulky and needs to be mixed into their food. Veterinarians and animal owners have found that it is easy to mix the small amount of powder (from the human formulas or from the Stress Pack formula) with a little bit of water and squirt it into the animal's throat with an ear syringe or an eye dropper.

2. Some cats and dogs did not have a good reaction to some of the ingredients in the pet formula. For example, it is well known that dogs do not tolerate vitamin C in ascorbic acid form. They can only use the Ester C form of vitamin C.  Unfortunately 4Life uses ascorbic acid vitamin C in their formula. They also use yeast, which is a good natural source of vitamins and minerals which cats love.  Unfortunately, some dogs do not tolerate yeast which gives them stomach ache and diarrhea. It also contains soy oil, which is not a healthy oil as far as I know.

3. Flaxseed oil is a wonderful oil.  I supplement my Boxers' diet and my own diet with flaxseed oil everyday. I believe flaxoil is vital for our health.  However, flaxoil is extremely sensitive to air, light and heat and has to be refrigerated to maintain its freshness and potency.  Rancid flaxoil is detrimental to our health and our animal's health.  I don't know how 4Life preserves flaxoil in the animal formulas.  I spoke to Professor Jack Carter from the Flaxoil Institue in N. Dakota at length about this issue because I was concerned about the flaxmeal in some dog food and wanted to know how to preserve its freshness. He explained that flaxmeal is much more stable then the oil and mixed in pet food it can remain potent and fresh for up to 6 months or longer at room temperature.

Many people have learned to supplement their animal's diet with kelp, clay, real salt, (rich in minerals), Ester C, and flaxseed oil or flaxmeal. These people do not see a need to spend extra money on products that contain similar supplements. These people just want to modulate or stimulate their animals' immune system with the Transfer Factor human products.

However, I know people who are very pleased with the animal formulas which they use on a maintenance basis.  Not everyone has the time or is inclined to supplement their animal's diet with kelp, clay, etc. These people prefer to order the 4Life animal formulas as their main basic animal health maintenance and these animals are doing well.

I always like to offer my customer an informed choice.  Every animal has a unique constitution, sensitivity and nutritional requirement.  This is also true for people and children.  Not all animals or kids may have a bad reaction to vaccines, toxins, or certain nutritional ingredients.

Pamela Au from Hawaii used the Transfer Factor Animal Stress Pack in several emergency cases including a horse that had a severe reaction to routine immunizations.
