| Human Consumption
Ingredients What does it mean
for Canine Health to have totally human consumption ingredients? Well,
it means three things. One, your companion dog is getting the absolute
best ingredients under the sun. Two, Dr. Harvey never uses pet grade
ingredients like most other commercial dog foods. And three, soon your
dog will probably be eating healthier then you are. Canine Health
includes 6 certified organic grains, and a variety of vegetables and
herbs containing all of the essential vitamins and minerals, vital to
optimal canine health.
No Dyes, No Preservatives, No
Chemicals
Most commercial dog foods use
preservatives to give their food a longer shelf life. In fact, no meat
(beef, chicken, turkey, etc.) can stay at room temperature for more then
a few hours. That is why it is so obvious that commercial dog foods use
so many preservatives to keep the meat that they do use from spoiling.
They use dyes and artificial flavorings (chemicals) to enhance the way
the food looks and tastes. These additives can have detrimental effects
on your dog’s short and long term health. We have seen dramatic
improvements, in many conditions, when a dog is changed to a diet
without preservatives, dyes, and chemical additives. Dr. Harvey’s Canine
Health contains no dyes, no preservatives, and no chemicals, which is
just one of the reasons that we have seen such positive results when
dogs switch to Dr. Harvey’s.
Sure it's healthy, but what about
taste?
Now we know what you’re thinking, if
it’s that good, my dog probably won’t eat it! Dogs love the taste of
Canine Health, even the most finicky of dogs will thank you by cleaning
their bowls. Canine Health is, that good, in fact we would like to take
this time to warn you that once your dog has a taste of Canine Health,
he or she may never settle for anything else.
Cook for my dogs?!!! I don't
cook for myself?
We saved this part for last. Canine
Health is a food that requires some preparation, but don’t worry, it’s
not preparing Thanksgiving dinner for your dog every night. In fact,
Canine Health only takes 8 minutes, and it only requires boiling water,
and a little commitment. But, what a difference it will make in your
dog’s life. Dr. Harvey says “Health begins in the kitchen!” Diet is
perhaps the most important aspect to maintaining a dog’s health, besides
love of course.

here.
Q: Why add Canine Health? Isn't raw
meat enough?
A: Dr. Harvey's Canine Health is made of certified organic grains which
are highly digestible and provide essential complex carbohydrates. When
you add the meat the first ingredient becomes protein. Carbohydrates are
important for all muscle and brain metabolism. The easiest way to get
storage glycogen to be released as glucose for muscle and brain function
is through carbohydrates. In addition, Canine Health is loaded with
vegetables that provide essential vitamins and minerals and a whole food
herbal vitamin and mineral supplement made from whole foods such bee
pollen, alfalfa, nutritional yeast, spirulina, lecithin and certified
organic herbs.
When the raw foods are added to this
exceptional mix the results are a healthier, happier dog. You will know
that your dog is eating the most balanced diet available anywhere.
Dogs and cats do very well on the
naturally occurring enzymes and nutrients in raw meat. Dogs and cats are
not prone to the same bacteria that humans are susceptible to. And
therefore concerns over feeding raw meats are not the same with them.
We also have many people who feel more
comfortable cooking the meat and that is certainly a fine way to use
Canine Health as well. The quality of the meat should be the best you
can buy. If organic or free range, hormone and antibiotic free meats are
available that would be our first choice. If they are not available to
you then always get the freshest meats that you can fine.
Holistic vets all over the country are
now seeing the value of feeding raw foods and have found that adding the
raw to Canine Health works best for their patients.
Q: What kinds of meat should I use?
A: We recommend using the best beef, chicken, turkey or fish available.
Tofu and lentils are choices for strict vegetarians. It really depends
on what your dog or cat likes best. We do suggest rotating the type of
protein that you use. A raw food diet can truly enhance the health of
your companion.

make?
A: Absolutely not. Just add it to boiling water and wait 8 minutes, add
your meat and oil and it's to go. It is really so easy and the benefits
are so great it is worth the little extra effort that is required.

cat eat it?

Is it really worth the extra work to feed
your dog this way?
Q: Why
should I cook for my companion dog?
A: Feeding your dog the most natural chemical free diet is the best way
to keep him or her healthy and increase longevity. Chemicals, coloring
agents and preservatives not only promote disease but they can cause
allergies, skin reactions and tax a animals immune system.
Q: How should I switch my pet to
Canine or Feline Health?
A: Switching a dog to Canine Health is usually a simple and exciting
process. Dogs love Dr. Harvey's and there is usually no need for a
period of time for their bodies to adapt to this new and wonderful food.
Most dogs love the taste and digest the food well. So unless your dog
has a history of digestive problems you can just make the switch. Cats
on the other hand can be more difficult. Everyone knows that cats are
incredibly finicky, so patience in the conversion to a natural diet is
very important. Some cats will take to the food immediately. But most of
the time it is wise to convert your companion cat slowly. Adding small
amounts of Dr. Harvey's Feline Health to whatever you are currently
feeding and gradually increase the Feline Health and reduce the
commercial food. Cats also need fish oil added to their diet to get
enough absorbable Vitamin A.
This process of conversion can take anywhere from 1 week to 3 months. We
have found that adding organic baby food chicken or turkey can sometimes
speed up the process.
Q: My dog has skin problems. Will Dr.
Harvey's Canine Health help?
A. We have seen dramatic changes in dogs eating Canine Health
particularly
in regards to skin problems.
Q: How long will it take to see
improvement?
A: Most of our customers report improvement within 3 weeks. Sometimes it
can take up to 2 months for a condition to clear up completely. It is
important during this period to make sure you are not adding any
preservatives to your pets diet. In other words, do not supplement with
commercial food or give treats that have preservatives in them.
Q: How often should I feed and how much?
A. Each package of food comes with complete instructions on how to feed
your pet. The feeding instructions are based on the size, weight and age
of your dog. Dr. Harvey's Canine Health also takes into consideration
that each dog is an individual with individual needs Start by making the
recipe provided in the bag.
This will make one pound of finished
food and will be enough for two meals for most toy dogs or small breeds.
A medium sized dog may need one and half times the recipe and for a
large dog you may want to double the recipe. Keep in mind that age,
weight level of activity and the dogs individual appetite are all
factors and play with the amounts until you and your companion have
adjusted to this new way of eating.
Remember that as a dog ages cutting
back on the amounts of animal protein is a good idea. Puppies need extra
protein and we suggest adding a small amount of cottage cheese to the
food daily for extra calcium.
Q: I thought that dogs should only eat
dog food.
A. This is a myth that has been around since commercial dog food was
created. Dogs thrive on whole natural foods, just like humans. Their
nutritional needs are specific but the added chemicals, dyes and
preservative in dog foods are detrimental to a dog's health. The most
important thing is that the food is fresh. All living things thrive on
fresh foods. Meat kept in a refrigerator for more than two days begins
to go bad. So how can meat in a bag or can of dog food be good to feed
your companion.
Q. Do I need to give a vitamin
supplement if I am feeding Canine Health?
Dr. Harvey's Canine Health contains a Whole Food Herbal Multi-Vitamin,
so no additional multi-vitamin is needed. It is essential to add oil to
the food as the recipe explains. Dr. Harvey's other herbal supplements
can be added to the food for special needs, such as Formative Years,
Joint- Ease, Pregnancy , Relax and Stress and Geriatric.
Q: Is it really worth the extra work to
feed your dog this way?
A. The work is really very minimal and the results are more than worth
it. What wouldn't we all do to give our companion dogs the very
best. The time is actually about 10 minutes total to prepare a fresh
healthy meal for your dog and it really is very, very easy!
