4Life's Transfer Factor product safety
statement
December 24, 2003:
4Life shares the concerns of many with regard to the recent announcement of the first incidence of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE or Mad Cow Disease) reported in the United States. Naturally questions have arisen as result of this announcement about the procedures 4Life follows to ensure the safety of its Transfer Factor products. Our primary focus is your health and safety and you can rest assured that 4Life adheres to a strict set of guidelines intended to ensure the quality of the products we offer.
All 4Life Transfer Factor products are obtained from licensed Grade A dairies that are registered with and monitored by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). These modern, state-of-the-art facilities follow stringent Good Manufacturing Practices and are part of an elite group who have been registered to export milk products into the European Union (EU) following the strict regulation changes that were put into effect after January 1, 2001. A press release by the Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-General of the EU said, “The Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) sees no evidence for the transmission of BSE through milk (emphasis and italics added). Hence, there is no reason for restriction on the use of milk stated the 16 independent scientists.”
Additionally, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated, "The scientific data indicated that milk from BSE cows does not transmit BSE. National and international public health organizations have consistently stated that milk and milk products are safe regardless of whether the country producing them has had cases of BSE."
Dr. William Hennen, Chief Scientific Officer of 4Life Research states, “We take great care to provide products that are safe and beneficial to our friends, customers and families. BSE (mad cow disease) has been known for more than ten years and we have evaluated all potential risk factors thoroughly. There is no scientific evidence that milk or colostrum pose any risk for BSE transmission. Nor were there any cases of BSE transmission between infected cows and their suckler calves. The most recent data continues to confirm that milk and colostrum are safe and free of BSE.”
You can feel confident that 4Life will continue to monitor this situation closely and to communicate any additional information on a timely basis.

HealthyPetNet Newsletter:
Regarding the current news surrounding "Mad Cow Disease" or
BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy), HealthyPetNet is very proud to
emphasize that we do not use beef in our products. Our policy is
to provide pet owners with high quality, safe and effective holistic
products that will help pets live long and happy lives. While we
applaud the work that the USDA, AAFCO and other government officials
have done and continue to do in keeping BSE from our cows, we do not
feel comfortable our herds can remain BSE free.
Actually,
our product formulator, Dr. Jane Bicks, has followed this issue very
closely for quite some time. Because of the uncertainty of this
dreaded disease appearing in the U.S., Dr. Jane and HealthyPetNet
made the decision not to include beef in our formulas.
We want to take this opportunity to say
that our chickens are raised without hormones or steroids because we
believe that it is healthier for your pets. Our fish is farm
raised so that there are no residual contaminants from the oceans.
We feel that the elimination of potential toxins from your pet's diet is
paramount for optimum health.
